The course focuses on the basic concepts, issues, and techniques adopted worldwide for efficient and effective operations. The topics include operations strategy, product design and development, forecasting, facility planning and layout, aggregate production planning, capacity planning, project management, production control, materials management, inventory and quality management.

This course introduces students to the management of business operations. This includes the process of design, analysis, and sustaining quality standards. Inventory control and resource management are also a critical part of operations management. You will learn how to develop, execute, allocate and manage business projects with the objective of meeting customer demand at minimum cost. Operations managers must effectively carry out the successful conversion of raw materials and human labour into the production of goods and services.

In addition to lecture format the training will also use participatory methodologies and as much as possible be practical and relevant to the needs of industry.

The objective of this course in Programme Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation is to enhance development practitioners’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in assessing needs of clients, determining desired outcomes and designing and implementing a plan to reach those goals and document impact.

The main aim is to increase the capacity of the development sector to deliver efficient and effective project outcomes and to be able to measure and evaluate these outcomes. As no one person is a sole depository of knowledge development, practitioners will have opportunity to learn from each other by sharing of knowledge and experiences.
